March 4 & 5, 2023

Rocky Mountain Adventure Racing presents the Arctic Fox Winter Stage Race. This is a regional adventure race that you (and, if you'd like, a teammate ) can take part in... in March. Compete all stages, or choose only to register for the stage/discipline that suit you best. That said, adventure racers don't typically shy away from a new challenge.

Race Information

Our goal is to be as inclusive as possible when it comes to our community. As a result, you can participate solo or in a team of two, in either Male, Female, Co-Ed and Non-Binary categories. Also, as a nod to our Military and Emergency Services community we've created an additional category for you - reach out to your crew and see if they'll accept the challenge.

The Arctic Fox will include several  disciplines. Depending on which city  you are taking part in, we'll have winter biking, running, and  x-c skiing.  Each stage will challenge team's physically ability and their ability to navigate while on the move.

Calgary - Running/Trekking & Biking

Registration is open! We have limited the number of solo and team spots available. Our friends at Race Roster will be handling our registration this year and we've provided the Registration Link in several places on our website!

Race each stage for $40 or $70 for both!

This Mandatory Equipment List is not a list of the only items you should take. It contains the mandatory items that you and your team must carry with you, at specified times, to meet minimum safety requirements.

More Info Here.

FamJam - New for 2023

The Arctic Fox Winter FamJam is a family friendly event designed to introduce your adventurous family into the the sport of adventure racing. This event will be orienteering (on foot) and designed for you and your crew to shorten or lengthen the course based on ability and comfort. Expect 1.5 - 2 hours of outdoor fun!

Begins at 2pm (BBQ at 4pm).

Race Package

Racer package pick-up will be during the week leading up to the race. Racer packages will include all the fun items you've come accustomed to. We are excited for all the contributions from this year's sponsors!

Each Stage (race) of the Arctic Fox will be roughly 3-4 hours in duration. We'll be using a mix of point-to-point navigation and Rogain-style navigation for each stage.

This year we will be back in person! Each stage will last between 3-4 hours and we'll have a mass start - racing is back! Plan to dress warm and come to the awards/after party on Sunday evening.

Still have some more questions? Head over to our FAQ page where we've gathered some of our most frequent. Still have more? That's okay, give us a call or send us an email and we'll get back to you with some answers.

Teams may trek/run overland on a mixture of established regional paths, hiking and mountain bike trails and, where experience allows, through bush or across open fields.

Like the types of trails teams will be trekking on, biking will occur on similar trails. It’s important that teams have a reasonable confidence winter biking on varied terrain. Teams will ride single track, double track, paved, gravel and, at times may be required to, hike-a-bike. Important to note is that trails may be covered in snow and occasionally ice.
