

Race Information
The Rocky Mountain Adventure Race (RMAR) is our premier flagship event designed to capture the true spirit of adventure racing in one unforgettable experience. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Rockies, this race challenges participants to paddle waterways, mountain bike rugged trails, and trek through wild terrain—all while navigating across diverse landscapes using only a map and compass. Created to welcome newcomers to the sport and challenge seasoned racers alike, the RMAR offers an opportunity to test endurance, teamwork, and grit in an inspiring outdoor setting. Whether you’re discovering adventure racing for the first time or pushing your limits once again, the Rocky Mountain Adventure Race promises an experience that’s as rewarding as it is exhilarating.
Teams
The Rocky Mountain Adventure Race will have Female, Male, Open and Mixed categories for adult and youth participants.

To support the growth of AR in Alberta and to align with other AB-based events, our adventure races will now be teams of 2. ​​
Team Captain Meeting
There will be a virtual Team Captain Meeting where critical race information will be shared, and an opportunity for teams to ask questions ahead of the race. This will be held on a Wednesday evening prior to the race and details will be shared with registered teams.
Duration
The Rocky Mountain Adventure Race will be 6-9 hours in length. We'll be using a mix of point-to-point navigation and Rogain-style navigation for each leg of this event. Racers should have an intermediate level of physical fitness in each discipline and be comfortable in an outdoor, wilderness setting for extended periods.

Format
This is a typical sprint-style adventure race designed for the first time racer and the experienced alike. Teams will receive topographic maps with various check points that they need to find enroute to the finish line, while trekking, mountain biking or paddling. In some cases, there will be advanced check points, or long course options to challenge the experienced teams in the mix.

Host Venue
Rocky Mountain Adventure Race will be hosted by Goldeye Lake Mountain Resort. In the heart of the Alberta Rockies, Goldeye Lake Mountain Resort offers the perfect setting for the Rocky Mountain Adventure Race, combining comfort and wilderness in one stunning location. The resort features a range of accommodations—including cozy cabins, dorm-style lodges, and on-site camping—to suit every racer’s preference.
Logistics
This is a semi-supported event where participants will be required to drop off gear the night before the race, or morning of (details TBC closer to event) and the Race Organization will support in moving equipment during the event as necessary. Teams may be expected to drop off their bike and/or canoe (and a gear box for each) the morning of the race.
Disciplines
The Rocky Mountain Adventure Race will include three disciplines - mountain biking, running/trekking and paddling. Important, however, is your ability to navigate using a map and compass. This race will challenge team's physically ability and their ability to navigate while on the move. See more below.
