Calgary Urban Adventure Race Series

Explore Calgary like never before! This three-part adventure race series challenges participants to run, paddle, and navigate urban wilderness in very acessable parts of Calgary, Alberta. Perfect for all skill levels, the series combines fitness, strategy, and fun in a grassroots, community-focused atmosphere.

Connecting Calgary Through Adventure

The Calgary Urban Adventure Race Series is a three-part, grassroots event designed to make adventure racing accessible, inclusive, and fun for everyone. Taking place in and around Calgary, the series offers participants a chance to build skills, confidence, and community in a supportive environment. The first two races serve as training opportunities—one combining mountain biking and trekking, and the other paddling and trekking—each lasting approximately 3–5 hours. These events are structured to help teams learn navigation, strategy, and teamwork without the pressure of competition. The series culminates in a final challenge that brings together trekking, biking, and paddling over a 6–8 hour course, offering a rewarding test of endurance and adventure for both new and experienced racers.

Race Information

Teams

Each race of the Calgary Urban Adventure Race Series will have Female, Male, Open and Mixed categories.

To support the growth of AR in Alberta and to align with other AB-based events, our adventure races will now be teams of 2. â€‹â€‹

Racer Check-In

Racer Check-In for the first two races will be on the day of the race. For the final race, racers will be required to check in the week before the race on Thursday or Friday . Time/Location TBD.

Racers will receive racer packages, complete necessary paperwork and have an opportunity to ask questions about the race.

Duration

The Summit Seeker and Path & Paddle are both designed to be 'training races' which will have a duration of 3-5 hours. Racers can show up and we'll have a tumbling start every 30 mins. The Wild in YYC AR will be 6-8 hours in length where everyone will start the race together in typical race fashion.

Format

These are typical sprint-style adventure races designed for the first-time racer and the experienced alike. Teams will receive topographic maps with various check points that they need to find enroute to the finish line, while trekking, mountain biking or paddling. In some cases, there will be advanced check points, or long course options to challenge the experienced teams in the mix.
