Calgary High Schools' Adventure Race

The Calgary High Schools' Adventure Race is an exhilarating event designed specifically for adventurous youth aged 14 to 18.

May 30, 2026

Race Information

We were teenagers when we fell in love with the sport of adventure racing, while watching races take place in far away places.

We created imaginary teams in our mind, dreamt of racing with our cousins and friends, and even created our own adventure races for school projects. We did this because no races existed for us at the time.

We want to change this.

We know the power that experiences like this offer. They can be life changing and nudge us a few degrees in our life path.

This is why we created the Calgary High Schools’ Adventure Race.

We hope you‘ll join us!

Teams

Teams are made up of 3 or 4 youth, 14-18 years of age (as of Race Day). Gather some friends and make a team to represent your school, club or cadet corps or sports team.

Categories include, Mixed, Open, Female and Male.

Adult Supervision

Some schools or clubs may require adult supervision to meet certain supervisory requirements. An adult may accompany the team during the event, but may not assist in the competitive elements of the race (navigation, bike mechanical, etc.)

Disciplines & Format

The disciplines for 2026 will include mountain biking, trekking and overland navigation. A basic understanding of each will be sufficient for success at this event.

Registration

There are a limited number of teams spots available (75 teams of 3 or 4 participants) in 2025.

Team registration has been subsidized to $20 person ($60-$80/team).

What's all included

First and foremost, we aim to create an event that will motivate you to experience future AR events. Participants will receive a team Racer Package, race maps, bike plate and runners bib, finish line snacks, draw prizes, first aid support and more.

Giving Back

Healthy schools is essential for the well-being of students and staff and also for creating a conducive environment for learning and fostering healthier communities. As such, we want to do our part in supporting Ever Active Schools  by using this event to help raise funds to in support of their work.

Racer Guide

The Racer Guide will give you an overview of the event and answer some more detailed questions you may have. While the guide is comprehensive, it does not have specific race instructions - these will be provided on Race Day.

**Please note we require 15 teams for this event to run.

While this is not reflective of the size or scope of the Championship, it is very motivating to see youth teams compete in other adventure races around the world!

Their generous support helps make all this possible and also helps to reduce registration costs for youth participants (even if these partners don't directly support our Youth Events).

We are always open to exploring new partnerships and sponsorships. If we can help you achieve your outcomes and you can help us grow community, we'd love to connect!
