I mean, 'Same great race, less running'.
It's back! The Arctic Fox Winter Stage Race is gearing up for an exciting event in March of the new year - March 23, 2024, to be exact and we'll be hosting the event at the Canmore Nordic Centre.
This year's version of the AFWSR will see the addition of Nordic skiing (skate or classic) and winter fat biking, both paired with overland navigation.
The other big difference is that we are going to host both stages on the same day. In the morning we'll see N
ordic skiing and in the afternoon, biking. We'll break an hour between each stage and you
still have the option of racing only one, or both stages - we're actually really excited about the format of the race this year. It will feel much more like an adventure race, but use the fo
rmat of a stage race to allow folks to race what they are comfortable with - each stage with mass starts and common finish times.
There are many reasons we're holding both stages on the same day. Besides the significant logistics of hosting two events on two days back to back, we wanted to encourage folks from Calgary to come out to Canmore for the weekend and not have to travel on consecutive days. We are also keen to host a memorable wrap-up party on Saturday night to say the least!

at we are not running the FamJam at the same time this year - we have big plans for that race. Stay tuned. This said we do have scaffolded discounts for families who want to race with their kiddos (kids will need to be able to cross-country ski or fat bike independently).
It's hard to believe it's been three years since this event first launched. As you know, our goal is to create a community of like-minded folks who are interested in adventure - REGARDLESS of ability
